ABOUT US

 

The "Psychoeducation Centre" is founded in Belgrade in August 2003, as a non-profit, non-government organization.

 

The aim of the "Psychoeducation Centre" is to fight prejudice about mental illnesses (dissorders), to inform public about the facts on mental illnesses and the ways for their treatment, to give help and support to people with mental dissorders and their families.

 

The "Psychoeducation Centre" consists of few teams, one of which is the expert's team, made of medical doctors - psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers; other teams take care of the published material, media campaigns, technical support, etc..

 

There are few ways to cooperate with the "Psychoeducation Centre". One is to use our services and information to help your family or friends or your self understand mental dissorders; the other is to become our member and to actively take part in our programe; or you can make a donation to help us reach our goals. We are happy to cooperate with you in whichever way suits you best.

PROGRAM

 

The "Psychoeducation Centre" is a young organization just starting its program. In the following you can read about our actions and our plans for the future.

 

 

Current actions:

 

ˇ         Establishing this web site

 

ˇ         Issuing brochures (with the content mostly taken from this web site) to be distributed in medical institutions and other educational institutions.

 

 

Future actions:

 

ˇ         Media camaign with the aim to fight STIGMA of mental illnesses.

 

ˇ         "Psychoeducation workshops". The experts team will hold series of workshops with the aim to educate patients and their families about shizophrenia, other psychosis and depression, to help them understand the illnesses and fight them more efficiently.

 

ˇ         Organize self-help groups. The Centre will help patients and their families communicate with other people with similar problems.

 

ˇ         Organize groups for patients and other interested individuals for socializing through hobbies and fun acitivities.

 

ˇ         Organize a permanent campaign to fight STIGMA of mental illnesses through replying to any public appearance or action that gives missinformation or disstorded picture on mental illnesses and their real nature.
